Social Awareness Poster - Part One


 For the Social Awareness Poster, I am presenting several sketch ideas that represent the people of the United States and their inability to control their own data at the present time. Since 9/11, there has been a concerted effort to brush aside personal privacy laws in favor of terrorist protection. This, coupled with the exponential growth of the technology sector, has led us down a road of lawlessness where not only our data is sold, but when the probability of our next action is one of the most valuable commodities. 

I hope to demonstrate visually a representation of the devastation of personal privacy that has vanished in my lifetime, together with a hope to make technology work for all of our benefit in the future.

 EDIT: I've re-worked this poster at the request of the professor. Admittedly, I ran out of time and settled for less than I should have. Here is the one I was working on before deciding to go with the original version below. The theme is the same. It is a complex issue to explain simply and it just was not coming to me.  This more reflects my vision for this project. Thank you for the feedback and encouraging me to finish what I started. I tried to use the shapes and the right words to create the idea of the circle generated from unlimited amounts of data, unlimited processing power, and using behavioral psychology to drive behavior. Book Cover Design - Part 1

 This project asks me to re-imagine a recently read book. I have chosen It Is All Right by Isabel M. Hickey. I love this book and have read it many times. It is currently out of print. I was able to obtain a few copies in the early 2000's from Isabel's daughter, Helen, who had continued the company after her mother's death. It is a self-published book and has a leather cover with gold inlay print. Very simple.    In the first sketches, I imagined doing a similar cover, adding color and depth to the gold star on the original. I did not want to change the symbol as it has meaning. The first sketch shows the words representing the meaning of each spike and I also imagined adding the text.
