For the Social Awareness Poster, I am presenting several sketch ideas that represent the people of the United States and their inability to control their own data at the present time. Since 9/11, there has been a concerted effort to brush aside personal privacy laws in favor of terrorist protection. This, coupled with the exponential growth of the technology sector, has led us down a road of lawlessness where not only our data is sold, but when the probability of our next action is one of the most valuable commodities. I hope to demonstrate visually a representation of the devastation of personal privacy that has vanished in my lifetime, together with a hope to make technology work for all of our benefit in the future. In this blog I will be sharing creations from a Digital Arts & Design Class I am taking at SUNY. Photoshop was one of the programs I've always wanted to be proficient at and never had the patience. I created logos and website mastheads, just using primitive editing tools within the constraints of desktop publishing. I'm excited to learn the "easier" way, which if not easier, will at least give me the skills to do a better job of it! Thanks for coming along on the journey! Carol

The raging bull of Wall Street represents the capitalist system that puts profits over human lives. The girl, our youth, standing up to how things have been, and to the failures of my generation (gen x). The news has changed so much since we started this assignment, I had to stop myself from continuing to put more and more examples on each side. As it stands, I think I may have gone too far! I chose the “amber waves of grain” background of the heartland that supports these policies, it replaces the view of the city. I chose all women to represent the defense of liberty and justice, because it will be the women who will stop this madness. That idea challenges that status quo a bit. I also chose to leave off a representation ...
