Social Awareness Poster - Part 2 - Revised

 EDIT:

I've re-worked this poster at the request of the professor. Admittedly, I ran out of time and settled for less than I should have. Here is the one I was working on before deciding to go with the original version below. The theme is the same. It is a complex issue to explain simply and it just was not coming to me.

This more reflects my vision for this project. Thank you for the feedback and encouraging me to finish what I started. I tried to use the shapes and the right words to create the idea of the circle generated from unlimited amounts of data, unlimited processing power, and using behavioral psychology to drive behavior. Just as we are using gestalt principles to get our point across, more advanced methods are now used to create psychological profiles that predict behavior, and get people to take actions they would not normally take, whether it is purchasing an item, or driving a political agenda.

For this poster, I chose the theme of online and social media privacy. The dark background is meant to represent the void of the internet. I chose the white bold lettering to highlight the start reality of the amount of data that is tracked on each of us individually.

As research I watched both The Social Dilemma and The Great Hack (Netflix) and was directed to two different organizations. The first one is the hashtag I included in the poster, Own Your Data. (www.ownyourdata.foundation) The second, is the Center for Humane Technology, www.humanetech.com  Both provide resources and action points to protect ourselves while we progress toward change.

I found this a challenge as I was limited by my artistic abilities as many of the ideas in my sketches could not be generated by my photoshop abilities alone.
