Social Awareness Poster - Part 2 - Revised

Image
EDIT: I've re-worked this poster at the request of the professor. Admittedly, I ran out of time and settled for less than I should have. Here is the one I was working on before deciding to go with the original version below. The theme is the same. It is a complex issue to explain simply and it just was not coming to me.  This more reflects my vision for this project. Thank you for the feedback and encouraging me to finish what I started. I tried to use the shapes and the right words to create the idea of the circle generated from unlimited amounts of data, unlimited processing power, and using behavioral psychology to drive behavior. Just as we are using gestalt principles to get our point across, more advanced methods are now used to create psychological profiles that predict behavior, and get people to take actions they would not normally take, whether it is purchasing an item, or driving a political agenda.   For this poster, I chose the theme of online and social media privac

For the Social Awareness Poster, I am presenting several sketch ideas that represent the people of the United States and their inability to control their own data at the present time. Since 9/11, there has been a concerted effort to brush aside personal privacy laws in favor of terrorist protection. This, coupled with the exponential growth of the technology sector, has led us down a road of lawlessness where not only our data is sold, but when the probability of our next action is one of the most valuable commodities.  I hope to demonstrate visually a representation of the devastation of personal privacy that has vanished in my lifetime, together with a hope to make technology work for all of our benefit in the future.  References: The Social Dilemma, Netflix 2020. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaaC57tcci0 The Great Hack, Netflix 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX8GxLP1FHo&feature=youtu.be

Fearless 2020

This photo montage is meant to demonstrate and bring attention to the idea that the republicans and current administration are rolling over the rights of women and minorities at an alarming rate.     The raging bull of Wall Street represents the capitalist system that puts profits over human lives. The girl, our youth, standing up to how things have been, and to the failures of my generation (gen x).     The news has changed so much since we started this assignment, I had to stop myself from continuing to put more and more examples on each side. As it stands, I think I may have gone too far!   I chose the “amber waves of grain” background of the heartland that supports these policies, it replaces the view of the city. I chose all women to represent the defense of liberty and justice, because it will be the women who will stop this madness. That idea challenges that status quo a bit. I also chose to leave off a representation of Biden simply because these

I have chosen the following three political themes: Psychological Ethics in Technology Woman's Rights Undoing Racial Inequality My sketches are reflective of the two of the themes. I have not yet chosen which one will make it to next week, as I will likely play with more than one before I'm done. Right now the front-runners are the one on Goya's "The Third of November" that I will entitle "what price freedom". The second one is with the Wall Street Bull and Girl Statue themed on Women's Rights. The third, the statue of liberty, distracted by media, while her people climb up looking for freedom, she's distracted by the screen.
